Hello, coming here from locked-on Mavericks. As the NBA came to a close I was excited to get into football now and for years my buddies have tried to get me into it but I never could find it entertaining. They are also Cowboys fans so I tried going along with it all but still struggled to get hyped. I think a part of it was I just grew up hearing the same things over and over about the Cowboys and I didn't have a team I really could get behind during these years they tried getting me into it I had done 2 fantasy football leagues and had no idea who anyone was but I liked the name Joe Burrow decided to look up a couple highlights of him and just fell in love immediately funny enough both leagues I had picked him up as my QB and some other Bengal players. Though I'm from Dallas I'm excited more than ever to watch this season and see this team Win the AFC North!

If the Bengals have win the Super Bowl, then you might see a few more pro bowlers and possibly an all pro. I think that it really just depends on how well the team goes to some degree.

And so far I've been right about Dax James has beaten the drums for Dax since he was drafted but I'll say this been athletic tall having length doesn't make u a good players i hope Dax wins the CB job and becomes a all-pro but let's been serious here he was drafted way 2 high and was put at a position he's never played before deep free safety why Dax was great at slot / nickel in college why change his position why not put him behind mike helton let him come in on different schemes and become a all-pro player since helton is around 30 anyway

The idea that it’s worth risking your franchise QB for a few preseason snaps where Burrow’s going to do nothing but hand off a few times at best is ridiculous. Preseason is vanilla defense and offense that offers Joe nothing like game conditions. Preseason is for evaluating backups and roster maybes. You think Burrow dropping back and opening himself up to a desperate DE or DT is a good thing? Did you see Joseph Ossai sack Tom Brady in his first preseason snap? Tampa Bay’s season could have been over for nothing, for a preseason snap. Burrow gets far more from intra squad scrimmages and shared practices than he does preseason. Stop with thinking preseason has anything to do with slow starts. Slow starts are injury related end of story.

If Zach Taylor learns how to use his players in the preseason so they can work out their kinks, then Joe Burrow will be in midseason form week one, see how he hast to use the first three weeks of the real season as his preseason and he usually midseason form by week, four or five

I think the bengals will go 14-3 this year with a loss to Baltimore the browns and some random game like they always do. But burrow will have a mvp year and Burton will be a rising star

I sorry but James’s take of not playing starters in preseason is the dumbest straw man argument ever. They could get hurt, yeah no kidding, they can get hurt anytime anywhere. Just like Aaron Rodgers last season in the first game.

Zac Taylor MUST play the teams starters more in the preseason than he has in the recent past so the starters are as close to being 100% ready to go as possible. For the past three preseasons, Taylor has elected to barely play the starters in order to prevent injury. The problem with this is the starters are still 'rusty' once the season starts and not as prepared to play as their opponents. This has led to losing records to start the season off and almost automatically eliminated the Bengals from retaining home field advantage throughout the playoffs. I agree that Burrow should play sparingly during the preseason, but the rest of the starters need more reps than they've incurred recently.

Playing the O Line not a bad idea though

Orlando was a 4x pro bowler at 2 different positions. Trent Brown was a Pro Bowler in 2019. And Brown has had elite pass blocking grades in the past 4 years basically. And he grades at 80.6 in run blocking.

There is a slot CB spot on either the Pro Bowl or All Pro teams. Think it’s all pro.

Spoiler alert. Joe Burrow will be 1st team All Pro this year and so will Jamar Chase. I have zero doubts about this and I’ve already placed my bets. Burrow will also be the league MVP AND Super Bowl MVP.

There problem last year was youth. Youth and Nick Scott is terrible at football. They had basically 2 rookie safety’s a rookie CB and another 2nd year CB. And in 2022 CTB didn’t play a whole year. He came in after Awuzies tore his knee up. CTB started about 9 regular season games and 3 playoff games in 2022. Nick Scott with the Rams in 2022 that was his first and only year starting. Even when DJ Reader was on the field last year we were still getting run on. I’m a huge Sam Hubbard guy but he is just an average pass rusher. The best against the run. Myles Murphy and Joseph Ossai are going to start moving to that role of pass rusher across from Trey. And I’m also predicting that Cedric Johnson balls out in the preseason and makes this team. I think Cam Sample might have to go to the practice squad for a year. OR what I would do with Cam Sample is tell him to get his weight up from 272 to 285 and start playing the vast majority of his snaps from the interior. 5 tech mostly and some 3 tech. Cam is very strong I think he can do it. In fact 4 of his 5 career sacks came from the interior.

For the record Trey should have been an All Pro last year and in 2020. Check this out. Last year Myles Garrett got 1st team All Pro and Defensive player of the year. These were Garrett’s numbers -42 tackles, 14 sacks, 85 pressures, 30 QB hits, 4 forced fumbles. Here was Hendricksons-43 tackles, 17.5 sacks, 80 pressures, 25 QB hits, 3 forced fumbles. Looks kind of the same no? Trey should have been one of the DEs on the 1st team All Pro or one of the 2 DEs on the 2nd team All Pro. Its fucking ridiculous that he didn’t. He has been 2nd in sacks in the league 2 out of the last 4 years. He is top 5 in practickly ever pass rush metric. Pressure percentage 21.6 top 5 Pass rush win rate top 5 in 2021 he was 1st in a catagory called turnovers caused by pressure he had 5 that year most in the NFL. It’s just ridiculous that they keep snubbing this guy.

And when Jordan Battle is finally starting in 2025 he will be a Pro Bowler maybe All Pro. He made the All Roomie team last year. So did Jessie Bates in 2018 and in 2020 Bates was a 2nd team All Pro. I think Battle get quite a bit of playing time this year though

Rashon Gary had 5 sacks his second year. I’m predicting Murphy has 8.5-10 sacks this year. But if he doesn’t remember Rashon Gary only had 5 sacks his second year and did not make his biggest jump until year 3 when he had 9.5 sacks. And also that’s a career high for Gary. 9.5. Sam Hubbards career high is 8.5. Just saying. I think Murphy is better than Rashon Gary and will prove it this year.

Stars all over the defense. CTB, Mike Hilton, Logan Wilson, and I believe Myles Murphy and Joseph Ossai are going to go off this year so they are stars in training.

Wow a ROOKIE CB, playing in the best division in the toughest conference in football while playing a historically difficult schedule, struggled??!! Dam that’s pretty unusual no? All CBs not named Sauce Gardner struggle when they are rookies. Gardner and Darell Revis are the only CBs I’ve seen that did not struggle their rookie years. Even Derek Stingley Jr struggled when he was a rookie.

DJ Turner really isn’t that small. I mean you make it out as if he was tiny! He is 6’ 185 lbs. you know who is tiny? Hollywood Brown. He is 5’9’’ 166. Or Xavier Worthy who is 5’11’’ 165. And we NEED DJ Turner to keep up with those 2 guys. Hollywood ran 4.27 5 years ago and Worthy just ran 4.21. Turner has the speed and ball skills to keep up with anyone in the league. I would not be surprised if he has gotten all the way to 190 lbs.

They have to play the starter a little bit in pre season. We can’t start out 0-2 this year. Can’t happen. And if the team that played in game 1 last year against the Browns had played the 2024 New England Patriots I think the Patriots would win that game. They have got to play 1-2 QUARTERS I. The pre season. 15-30 minutes. Unless the starters get out there and it’s just obvious and are killing the opposition.

With the pre season I would make sure ALL the starters play at a very minimum 1 quarter of football. So 15 minutes but ideally I would play them for 1 quarter in game 1 and a quarter in either game 2 or 3.
